TO KNOW OUR FRUITS/PLANTS-1

SONNERATIA CASEOLARIS (BUAH PEDADA) Many people especially younger generations dont know about this plant. One day, one of my collegue brought the fruits in the staffroom, many of my collegues asked what the fruit was.

The fruit is persimmon-like with sepals whose tips bend away from the stalk. Found near the banks of tidal rivers in brackish water.It grows wild and the fruits are usualy eaten by monkeys. When ripe, the fruits are eaten raw or cooked. It is best taken raw with shrimp paste codiments. Fermented fruit juice is said to be useful in arresting haemorrhage. The wall of an old fruit is given as a vermifuge. The juice of half-ripe fruit is used to treat coughs. The juice of the flowers enters into a compound for treating blood in the urine. Pneumatophores were used as corks and floats.

About Cat A cat with a black coloured nose will bring bad omen to its master. Avoid such a cat. A cat that like to sit on the roof of the house will also bring bad omen to its master. A three coloured male cat and a cat with a short and bent tail will bring good luck to its master. Do not bully or laugh at a cat, heavy rain/ thunderstorm might occur. Do not keep a black cat, it may become an evil at night.

Do not bring a cat along when you travel by boat. You might encountera heavy storm on your way.

Half Day Half Night

THIS PHOTO IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. BE SURE TO READ THE TEXT BELOW TO HAVE A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT YOU ARE VIEWING. IT IS HISTORIC TOO AS THIS IS THE LAST MISSION FOR COLUMBIA. The photograph attached was taken by the crew on board the Columbia during its last mission, on a cloudless day. The picture is of Europe and Africa when the sun is setting. Half of the picture is in night. The bright dots you see are the cities' lights. The top part of Africa is the Sahara Desert . Note that the lights are already on in Holland , Paris , and Barcelona, and that's it's still daylight in Dublin , London , Lisbon , and Madrid . The sun is still shining on the Strait of Gibraltar . The Mediterranean Sea is already in darkness. In the middle of the Atlantic Ocean you can see the Azores Islands; below them to the right are the Madeira Islands ; a bit below are the Canary Islands; and further South, close to the farthest western point of Africa , are the Cape Verde Islands. Note that the Sahara is huge and can be seen clearly both during day time and night time. To the left, on top, is Greenland , totally frozen.

WHAT MY GRANDMA TOLD ME 1

About the world we lived in: The world that we live in is flat. If you reached the end, you will fall down, and thats the end of you. But nobody has ever reached the end ada felt down. Eclipse Of The Sun/Moon A huge dragon is going to swallow the moon/sun, which causes darkness. Everybody is trying to save the moon or sun. To release the sun/moon from the dragon's mouth, the people played musical instruments such as drums, gongs etc. If no musical instruments, empty tins, cooking utensils etc will do. As long as the utensils can produce sound. The louder the better. The dragon will be frightened to hear such noise and will release the sun/moon from its mouth. About The Rainbow Don't ever point at the rainbow. If you do so, your finger pointer will be cut off. Hence, I don't dare to point at the rainbow. Again about the rainbow: Dont ever go out when tere is a rainbow. that is the time when the evil spirit roams. If you were caught by the evil spirit you will get sick. Uninvited Creatures At Night If any creatures (grasshoppers, beetles, moths etc) pop in to your house at night, please don't kill them. They may be evil spirit who appeared in the form of these creatures. If you kill them, you will be in great touble. Meal Time For male, do not move around while having your meal. You will have many wives. About Pillow Do not sit down on a pllow. You will suffer from boil on your buttock. Young Girls Do not sing while cooking at the kitchen. You will marry an old man.
